Prep Lead/Barback

As the Prep Lead/Barback, you will be responsible for stocking and organizing the bar, assisting with ingredient prep, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring that all supplies are readily available during service. You will support the bartenders and kitchen team, ensuring they can focus on delivering an excellent guest experience. You will also take a leadership role in managing other bareback and prep staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to high standards. 


Key Responsibilities:

Bar & Kitchen Support

  • Ensure the bar and kitchen are fully stocked with necessary supplies including ingredients, garnishes, ice, glassware, and other essentials. 

  • Assist with ingredient prep such as slicing garnishes, preparing syrups or organizing and ensuring everything is in place for the bar. 

  • Regularly restock supplies during service and ensure bartenders have what they need to serve guests quickly and efficiently. 

Cleanliness & Organization

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace at all times, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations. 

  • Sanitize bar tools, equipment, and prep areas to ensure proper cleanliness during and after shifts. 

  • Manage waste removal and ensure the bar and kitchen are spotless throughout service and at closing. 

Team Leadership & Communication

  • Lead and oversee other barback or prep staff, ensuring tasks are assigned and completed efficiently. 

  • Communicate effectively with bartenders, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth coordination of service.

Problem Solving & Time Management

  • Address issues that arise during service, such as running low on supplies or equipment malfunctions, and resolve them quickly to avoid disrupting service. 

  • Multitask efficiently, managing both stocking and cleaning duties while staying responsive to the needs of bartenders and kitchen staff. 

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs, including, cases of beverages, and other bar and kitchen supplies. 

  • Move quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment to support the team during peak service times. 

  • Stand for extended periods of time while performing stocking, prep, and cleaning tasks.


Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in a food service-oriented role (prep cook, dishwasher, line cook, etc.).

  • Strong ability to maintain a clean, organized workspace in a high-stress, fast-paced environment. 

  • Effective communication skills and ability to follow direction from management and bartenders. 

  • Willingness to learn, try new things, and share knowledge with teammates. 

  • Ability to work well under pressure and multitask efficiently during peak hours. 

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle physically demanding tasks in a busy environment. 

  • 3 strong recommendations from previous employers. 


Additional Skills & Certifications:

  • Bar Smarts, WSet, Somm, or other beverage certifications. 

  • Experience in high-volume work environments (e.g., nightclubs, fast-casual restaurants or other).

  • Experience in a service-oriented hospitality role (e.g., bartender, server, host, etc.).  

  • Experience with kitchen training or culinary prep work.
