Assistant Manager

As the Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the FOH staff and ensuring that the dining room operates efficiently. This role includes stepping in to fill the duties of the General Manager (GM) in their absence and supporting hourly staff roles during their time off. Similar to the GM, you should be capable of working in any position on the floor, from serving and bartending to hosting. While you won’t have the same P&L responsibilities or business acumen as the GM, a willingness to learn and grow in these areas is expected. You will work closely with the GM to implement service standards, manage staff performance, and ensure Sipeos delivers an exceptional guest experience every day.


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Staff Management

  • Provide leadership support in the GM’s absence, overseeing all managerial duties and ensuring consistent service standards are maintained. 

  • Fill in for hourly positions as needed, such as servers, bartenders, or cashiers, to ensure proper coverage. 

  • Assist in hiring, training, and managing FOH staff, including servers, bartenders, barbacks, and cashiers. 

  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate daily goals, promotions, and any service-related updates. 

  • Mentor and coach team members, providing feedback to help them grow in their roles and ensure consistent performance. 

Operational Oversight & Efficiency

  • Assist with all operational duties typically handled by the GM when required, maintaining smooth operations during their absence.

  • Capably perform any FOH role, such as handling tables, managing guest interactions, and supporting the bar or cashier stations during peak periods. 

  • Oversee daily FOH operations, ensuring that all aspects of the restaurant run smoothly and efficiently.

  • Maintain high standards of food quality, service, and cleanliness.

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Staff Scheduling & Labor Management

  • Assist with creating and managing FOH staff schedules to ensure proper coverage during all shifts, while optimizing labor costs. 

  • Monitor labor performance and staffing needs, making adjustments as necessary to meet the demand of service. 

Guest Experience & Customer Service

  • Ensure that every guest has a memorable and enjoyable experience at Sipeos.

  • Monitor the dining area to anticipate guest needs, resolve any service issues, and respond to guest feedback in real time.

  • Handle guest complaints and concerns with professionalism and efficiency, escalating issues to the GM when necessary. 

  • Promote a culture of inclusivity and exceptional customer service.

POS & Financial Support

  • Oversee and troubleshoot the POS system to ensure accurate order processing and payment transactions. 

  • Assist in handling financial transactions, including cash handling, closing out checks, and balancing the FOH register. 

  • Support the GM in monitoring sales performance, labor costs, and other FOH financial metrics. 

Communication & Collaboration

  • Act as a liaison between the FOH and BOH teams to ensure smooth communication and coordination during service. 

  • Communicate effectively with the GM to report on staff performance, guest feedback, and operational challenges. 

  • Assist in executing any promotional events, special menus, or seasonal changes in collaboration with the GM and ownership. 

Inventory & Supplies Management

  • Assist in managing FOH inventory and supplies, ensuring that the restaurant is properly stocked with all necessary items (e.g., glassware, linens, menus, etc.). 

  • Monitor and replenish inventory levels as needed to maintain efficient service, while managing costs. 


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in restaurant management, with at least 1 year in a general manager role.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to handle guest complaints and resolve issues quickly.

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to handle guest complaints and resolve issues quickly. 

  • Knowledge of POS systems and experience handling financial transactions. 

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Knowledge of non-alcoholic beverages, wines, and cocktails is a plus.
